What are the Benefits and Drawbacks of Polyester Viscose Blend?

Polyester Viscose is a blend which comprises the properties of both fabrics. Polyester and Viscose are available for their own clothing but have different qualities in wearing. Poly Viscose Blend delivers the best qualities from both fabric, and is cost effective. Polyester Viscose is also known as semi-synthetic fibre which is quite natural to handle.

Polyester and Viscose both are man-made fibre and vary in qualities such as Viscose absorbs water easily whereas Polyester is unable to absorb sweat. These qualities make it uncomfortable to wear but after blending both of the fabric, they obtain new characteristics in fabric. Poly Viscose fabric is easy washable and can be tumble-dried.

There are different features of Poly Viscose blend that makes it comfortable while wearing such as Poly Viscose contains anti-allergic properties, making the fabric perfect wool substitute for those who suffer from wool allergy. One of the best qualities for vegans is that the blend does not contain any animal source as it is a semi-natural fibre.
The Poly Viscose blend is used for items like soft furnishing, upholstery, garments, uniforms, tablecloth, and children’s cloth that are liable to wear and easy to wash.

How Poly Viscose is made?

Viscose is a kind of rayon fibre that is made from natural resources like agricultural products and wood pulp which is later regenerated as cellulose fibre. Viscose is not strong enough independently as it absorbs water easily; however, it has some good qualities like soft, smooth, comfortable, and light.

Polyester contains ester functional group, and it is a category of polymers. It is a petro-chemically processed artificial fibre. Polyester is 90% crystalline which makes it unable to absorb water, and it does not shrink at normal temperatures. During summer season the inability to absorb sweat makes it uncomfortable while wearing the fabric. The blend of Polyester and Viscose balance each other and presents itself as a strong product.

Is Poly Viscose a sustainable product?

Polyester Viscose blend is often considered as sustainable product as well as complicated subject. Viscose uses N-Methlymorpholine N-oxide as the solvent in Lyocell process while manufacturing, and that makes it eco-friendly. Polyester component deriving chemically from hydrocarbons makes it difficult for renewable process. Polyester is also petro-chemical based fibre which is processed through harmful including carcinogens, and that can cause damage to the environment.

  1. Polyester is strong, durable, and lasts longer than cotton. It also resists shrinkage and wrinkles, the two biggest disadvantages of cotton. A cotton/polyester blend is common in apparel, especially shirts. The blend is durable, maintains its color well, and is soft and light. I think you should visit website of Bidhata, polyester viscose yarn manufacturers India as they have over years of industrial experience.
